Position Title: Forest Programme Associate

Location: China Programme Office, Beijing

Reports to: Forest Programme Officer

Program Description:

WWF is the world's largest independent Organization dedicated to the conservation of the nature. WWF's ultimate goal is to stop, and eventually reverse, the accelerating degradation of our planet's natural environment, and to help build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. WWF has chosen forests as one of its conservation priorities and translating this priority focus into field-based, policy and campaign activities. WWF- China Forest Programme focuses on the forests conservation and sustainable use in the Forests of the Upper Yangtze.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General support for WWF's forest conservation activities, nationally and internationally, and for the forest projects of WWF China Programme Office.
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of project activities in forest conservation at WWF-China Programme; assisting initiation and development of the new programme activities.
  • Managing relationships with Chinese government at the national, regional and local levels, with the scientific community, and with donors and other international agencies.
  • Insuring timely completion and accurate organizing of project documentation, including project documents, reports on project activities, monitoring and evaluation information, six-monthly and end-year technical reports, and others as needed.
  • Assisting with the financial management of the programme, including completion of trip financial reports and timely completion of regular financial reports.
  • Collecting information in support of programme or project work, including reports from partners in the field, reports from Contractee, etc
  • Managing logistics for workshops, training activities and meetings.
  • Insuring regular communication and interaction with staff working in other programme areas at WWF China and WWF international.
  • Serving as Acting Programme Officer when the Programme Officer is absent.
  • Support communication:

  • Facilitating interaction between Forest Programme staff and staff working in other programme in WWF China and WWF international.
  • Insuring accuracy and regularity of communication with partners such as State Forestry Administration(SFA), and relevant Provincial Forestry Department.
  • Providing information when requested by donors and potential donors, under the direction of the Programme Officer.
  • Qualifications:

  • University graduate preferably in the fields of resource economics and conservation sciences.
  • Fluent English and Chinese.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with GIS software and data analysis.
  • Proactive, innovative and output-oriented personality with the ability to meet hard deadlines and willing to work under pressure;
  • Good personality and communication skills.
